Lessons of Place

Thank you to everyone who was able to come out for the summer workshop! We had a wonderful time and learned some fascinating things about place, plants, humans and movements. 1. That which is repetitive alone creates a completely new, sometimes random movement when paired with other repetitive movements/actions (imagine one dripping rain drop compared to a group of dripping rain drops) 2. We worked with creating choreography about the places of our lives: our birthplace, our ancestral homeland and our current home. The movments created all dealt with growing as a person. People created movmeent which came up from the ground and moved outwards. I likened this to the lifecycle of both humans and plants. Several participants started out with small movements that were introverted and directed inwards (seeds/babies.) They then moved on to bigger movements that involved interacting with the environment (using elements to grow/ talking and interacting with other humans.) Eventually everyone's movements ended in completely open, extended movements (flowering/ death and joining of wide spirit-world.) I feel inspired and that we have some great information to fuel further explorations!
